Bryan Durio Rock Around The Clock
I went, I observed, I listened, I learned, I networked, I met some bright people with a lot more grey matter and a lot less ego. What was there to absorb? In short, everything from Wolfy's seminar on Computer DJ 101, to computer control of lighting, to Jose's CPS Marketing, to Drax's visions of emerging technologies, to getting primo-quality audio from a system, to computer Karaoke, to Jorgen's excellent seminar on perceptual compression, to Educational Director's excellent wrapup of the entire summit. I guess you were expecting a Vegas-style extravaganza replete with vendors hawking their "stuff". Well sorry, man, the summit wasn't about your or anyone else's "stuff"...it was about IDEAS. It was about kinship. It was about expanding your knowledge. What it WASN'T about was anyone's inflated sense of self importance. At next year's summit, I look forward to more in-depth seminars and building rapports with more people that I currently only know through words, screen names, and avatars. DJBob, it was great working and talking with you. A pure delight - you are Top Shelf in my book. To those who are interested in CPS entertaining, sorry you didn't go. It will be bigger and better next year, and I'll see you there! .

As a non-computerized DJ, I had a wonderful learning experience at the summit. It sure opened my eyes and gave me a focus for future development. From the various software programs that were available for hand on use to the futuristic text messaging systems that were demonstrated to the upcoming changes in technology to "gains", lossy's and video it was terrific. I got a lot of ideas and things I will be implementing in the course of the next year or two. I learned shortcuts from the experience of others who have pioneered the way. It was overall, a great seminar!! The very best thing though was the camaraderie of the DJ's (and their families) who were there. I was helped so much there is no way I will ever be able to repay the advice, openness, giving and kindness I was shown. My hat is off to Educational Director and his wife for all the work and thought that was put into a successful summit and my thanks and fondest affection goes out to all my new DJ friends.

As a person who attended the summit, I want to say I went, learned, and will continue to support this summit as it was a step in the right direction. There were many seminars that were educational to me, some not so much and one or two that where over my head tech wise....but still educational. Thanks to Educational Director and his wonderful wife, Wolfie, JR at Text Live, Jeff at VJLive, Silvio from Denon, Jason from VDJ, Saied from DJ Power (The tool I use), the Tricerasoft crew, and all the others there. The People I connected with, Charles, Cheryl, Bryan D, Brian Fowler (My brother from a different mother), as well as the many local DJs from our ADJA Chapter in attendance including Bob Moore who did a bang up job in set up production. I look forward to seeing them and more next time.

What I enjoyed about the Summit was it not being a smaller mini-me version of the larger industry events like Mobile Beat in Vegas or DJ Expo in Atlantic City. I've attended several industry events and walked away feeling short changed at the repetitive DJ-101 or infomercial seminars I've found at larger DJ related events.... Bartlett, Mitchem, Ferrel, Jopez, and others are great speakers I respect with awesome content and material I use and love. But as a Computer DJ I walked away from these events wanting more - much more... The Computer DJ Summit gave me new perspectives, introducing new presenters, covering topics I can use in my style of DJing. If I had left after day 1 of the Summit I would have gotten my monies worth even without skimpy dressed models. I look forward to seeing everyone next year and entering the CPS-MIXOFF championships. A MUST ATTEND EVENT - GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

The height of the event for me was meeting, eating with and sharing the DJ booth with Jorgen Hedberg. What a super brain, I was in awe. I finally got to see the DAI in action live instead of some moron standing in front of it who knows nothing about it handing out cards. His lecture on lossy and lossless was incredible. I always wondered why Livin La Vida Loca sounds like sh!t. Absolutely amazing, you just had to be there. Great to see Promo Only and Screenplay exploring pc options for video data they are listening to us, thank you guys. Got to meet one of the behind the scenes techs of Promo Only and had discussions never possible at a regular show. Doug, good to see you again, thanks for the discs. Bryan and Wolfie, you guys are great, your contributions were extraordinary. The level of organization for this event was top shelf; any vendor would have been impressed with Jams detail. The whole mood and attitude of this show was nothing but positive. The presence of video every night was impressive and confirmed my confidence that this format without doubt is here to stay. I have never seen so many pretty girls in my life in one place. This is the place to be if you are a bachelor. I don't think that there was one person there that wasn't impressed with Virtual DJ, we opened the booth to get guys behind the console. Unfortunately we missed the shipment of support goods like banners, cards and other things that prevented us from fully dressing the booth, but it didn't really matter with the distraction of what was happening on the screens. Without question, I will promote and attend this event next year. The concentrated focus on this format made it one of a kind and very special. discussing cool ideas.

CPS Certification Gives an Edge
In a white paper titled Certification: Networking With the Best, George R. Conrade, wrote, "Certification is an excellent way to gain a competitive edge and give proof of your abilities, knowledge, and level of skill. To be certified in any profession, whether it's as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or as a CPS Certified Disc Jockey (CPSDJ), means you have joined a network of individuals who meet consistent, knowledge-based standards of ability, position, experience-even ethics. When you pursue certification, you're testing yourself against these standards of proficiency." Click here for details.
